Devaniya is a space that enriches lives without even attempting to do so. And that is because it is a phenomenon that sprouts from an earnest approach towards the teaching and learning process, using kathak as a canvas for creativity and positivity rather than making the technique of kathak it’s sole purpose.
This approach towards the art has brought about a cross cultural, cross generation synergy leading to the germination of a new grain of kathak which we at Devaniya deem fit to term the Dakshin Gharana of Kathak, a stylisation of Kathak with a Dakshini Andaaz ( a southern garnish).
Devaniya thus, is truly one of a kind. From our distinctive style to the methodology of teaching, from the sheer simplicity of our ethos and attitude to our impressive presentations and presence in the bastion of Bharatanatyam, Devaniya is a gift worth giving yourself and your loved ones.

Kathak - the classical dance form of North India which originated in the temples where the dancers would depict stories of Gods and Goddesses, was embellished with fast rhythmic footwork, numerous pirouettes and statuesque poses during the Mughal rule in India. This transformed it into a performance oriented art form of entertainment. The techniques have been nurtured and refined in three recognised styles or gharanas - Lucknow, Benaras and Jaipur.
Devaniya is the pioneer school of Kathak in Chennai, founder school of the Dakshin Gharana of Kathak.

The only criteria to enroll with Devaniya is the will to learn and to be 8 years or above. There is no upper age limit at Devaniya.
